What's Happened At Holden Motors? How The Closing Of Our Car Company Turned Bad

What Has Become Of Holden's Dealers?

The main point of contention created by Holden’s closure is reimbursement of Holden's dealer network, quite a few of that have paid out significant amounts of money to conduct car yard improvements just recently in the face of receding sales numbers.
We won't be probing the many events of the recent period of arguing in between both parties, General Motors offered compensation of $1500 per car, while Holden's dealers were requesting six thousand dollars. In spite of Holden dealers many public and private requests for talks and a higher settlement GM did not move from their one thousand five hundred dollar offer.
The result of this more than one hundred and twenty remaining from over 184 Holden dealers had to take up the offer today as General Motors announced a June 30 deadline.
Australian Automotive Dealer Association CEO Mr James Voortman has been firm with the assessment of how the negotiations with both stakeholders went down, laying the blame at GM’s feet.
Yet, this does not indicate that the fight is at an end. The Australian Holden Dealer Council (AHDC) says that the remaining sixty Holden dealers will pursue GM for increased amounts.
Neither GM or Holden released any public statement about this current arrangement.

Who Will Repair A Calais?

And with a lot of Holden dealerships having already have removed Holden's Holden Lion branding and transitioned over to different brands, it has given a sense of confusion and lack of understanding for Holden drivers.
GM indicated earlier on in the year they were looking to to get five-year contracts from dealers with possibility to increase to ten years, to give current Holden owners have no stress. While the details of these deals have been seemingly forgotten with all the drama over compensation, it’s assumed the approximate 120 dealers that came to terms with General Motors have had included servicing agreements as part of the deal.

What's The Direction Of HSV?

Holden Special Vehicles will be known as GM Speciality Vehicles (GMSV).
A part of its announcement in February of the Holden closure, GM relayed their plan to sell certain models as GMSV. While the company are quiet about the plans since, it’s believed General Motors will team with Holden Special Vehicles, and will expand the current offerings of right hand drive altered General Motor's products.
And yet, there's a catch for this roadmap with AHDC issuing the following statement recently in June examining the legitimacy of GM Specialty Vehicles.
Mr Voortman reported he was very concerned regarding the possibilities General Motors would remove Holden’s network and come back in the marketplace with a different company title.
